Lately I have really been inspired by the Sensei's Divining Top, thus my ambisious attempts at altering it.
Lately I have been experimenting with with liquid vs the heavy bodied paste acrylics. With this I wanted to compare line work and smoothness of the finished product.
Now with this one I used the heavy bodied mars black and from a live view you can't really see some of the inconstant smoothness, but in the digital copy you can see that it was difficult to maintain a smooth line and changes in thickness with in that line. Keep in mind I did water it down in my palette to change the consistency but unfortunately it still didn't quite stand up to my next example.
Now here I switched to liquid snow white paint. I wanted to make a rather ambitious test with this piece just show how much different the quality you get between the two paints with line work.
With both of these pieces I used a mixture of both to prime and create the backgrounds.

Angels in the Infield?
So it's been all work and no play...well with gen-con a couple weeks ago it's been mostly play...
After a short break I decided to start a little project for myself this time and add some alters to my linvala edh. Of course they have to be angelic themed which has been in itself pretty fun once I found my groove. Here's what I have so far:
So far so good as they say, and with all the glitter paint I'm using I don't see how I could go wrong haha. Time to get some more for the monster known as ebay.

Angels, Demons and Tom Hanks
A while ago I was asked by a friend of mine asked me to put Tom Hanks on his general. Once I knew the details of the project he had in mind I couldn't refuse. After a failed attempt and a lot of scraping I feel that the end result turned out pretty awesome.
Can you stand against Tom Hanks? Initiate scoop phase.

June Review, by Jeremy Froggatt
It's always exciting when I get good feedback from fellow artist and fans, and I know for most of the vets its nothing new, but its very rewarding for me to be mentioned in this months altered art review. For those that don't know I am known as nuvo via the mtgs forums and this article features my hogwarts academy!
June Review, by Jeremy Froggatt
To be in the same company as these other artists is very flattering and I hope I can keep up this standard!

Busy busy!
Well the time has come for my second blog post.
In the past few weeks I have been working to strengthen my ability as an artist as well as create a foot hold in the mtg altered art community. So far the response has been very positive and the other artists are extremely welcoming. With Gen-con right around the corner I've been trying to build an inventory and gain followers through the many social networks including; facebook, deviant art, and the mtgs forums. It's been pretty fun so far and I'm looking forward to sharing more of my work.
That said here's what I've been doing for the past week:
